Like some may have noticed, I enjoy photographing flowers. I know I’m not alone in this. The orchid is a favourite, because of the elegance it presents, with many variations in colour and form. While many subjects have the same effect on me, I find photographing flowers especially calming.

Beautiful. Understand well that you find peace in photographing flowers when it is as beautiful as this. Orchids are especially beautiful. I will not say what they resemble. But what they are reminiscent of I find, if not a quiet, somewhat comfortable in.

Original comment (Norwegian):
Nydelig. Skjønner godt at du finner roen i å fotografere blomster når det blir så vakkert som dette. Orkideer er spesielt vakre. Jeg skal ikke si hva de minner om. Men også det de minner om finner jeg, om ikke en ro, noe behagelig i.
In general, I’m calm when I photograph. I relax, and I enjoy it. But working with flowers, or any still life photography, gives me time. Time to study the subject from various angles and experimenting with light, focal length and aperture.
If I don’t get a decent picture in the end, that is ok. I still get something out of it.
A delicate image that not only gives you peace, but also he who sees such a mood. Beautifully composed, beautiful colors and delicious lights. I have not snapped orchids yet, but I jomma do something now in the holiday

Thank you, Ståle. To get the light in this, I moved the orchid out to my balcony and tried different angles toward the the light. It was an overcast day, so the light was nice and soft. Otherwise I would use a diffuser. There are many flowers I enjoy taking pictures of, but orchids is one of my favourites. As are the pink sunscape daisy because of the strong colours.
In fact, the thought occurred to me before now, but the flowers have so many effects. Ro …, yes why not, those given to many of our patients and the bringr well both comforting to rest, I can imagine
Great!

Flott!
Faktisk så har ikke tanken slått meg før nå, men blomster har jo så mange virkninger. Ro…, ja hvorfor ikke, dem gis til mange av pasienten våre og de bringr vel både trøst å ro kan jeg tenke meg
Thank you, Anne. Flowers are definitely calm to me. I recently returned from a vacation in Turkey, and I believe there was more than a hundred different flowers in the hotel area alone. Naturally, I spent a few evenings walking around with my camera taking pictures.
Beautiful picture, soft and elegant. I love orchids, they are so great, give joy to the eye and peace of mind and fun to shoot. Great conducted weekly contributions Yngve:)

Nydelig bilde, soft og elegant. Jeg elsker orkideer, de er så flotte, gir glede for øye og ro i sinn, og artige å fotografere. Flott gjennomført ukesbidrag Yngve
Only problem I have with orchids are getting them to blossom again. We have a few orchids at home that seems quite reluctant to show its beauty again. But we keep them, hoping they will come around some day.
Whåt is this? You work out you sad the text itself or do you have a magic plug that translate text for you? Anyway: Beautiful, soft image with a strikingly beautiful light touch. You know my relationship two macro flower images, but still I like this. Maybe you could have got an even Sharper center of focus with some carefulness or smaller aperture (Higgs ƒ-number)

Uansett: Beautiful, soft image with a strikingly beautiful light touch. You know my relationship to macro flower images, but still I like this. Maybe you could have got an even sharper center of focus with some carefulness or smaller aperture (higg ƒ-number)
It is my “magic” XmasB Translator plugin. I’ve made it myself, and shared it with no one as of yet. It translates any comment found not to be English, if certain conditions are met. First the plugin determines the language of the comment. If it is recognised, and not English, it is translated. Obviously, this can and will result in some strange translations. But I want this blog to be at least understandable to most visitors. About 40 percent of visitors on this blog come from outside of Norway, so I want to give them a chance to understand the comments as well. After all, comments are a huge part of any blog. Without comments, it is just another website.
Translating your quasi English proved difficult, Geir.
About the picture, I have several versions of this, from wide aperture like the one posted, to narrow apertures with sharpness almost throughout. I liked the softness in this the best, with the colours blending. I have also blown out the whites on purpose, in post edit, but I see the compression to JPEG didn’t handle this too good.
I really see what you mean! When photographing still objects you really can take your time and get the composition just right! With children, animals and other living things thats a bit harder! Really good photograph, there! =)
Thank you, Line. I love shooting moving subjects, but the success rate is often better with stills.
