I didn’t like it when I gave it too much color. Deciding on when to stop when working/playing with pictures can be a bit tricky, but I usually try to stop before the result look unrealistic. That’s one reason why you don’t see many HDR pictures here. I think most of them look like computer created pictures.
It looks great with muted colours. The tones and textures on the tidal flat are stunning.
We do a bit of HDR work and find that sometimes the “extreme”an be used too good effect. However, all to his own taste.
I have only made one single HDR picture on this site, the washed up boat in Thailand. Most people can’t see that this is a HDR, and that was why I put it on this site. The rest of HDR’s I have made are fun projects, but I don’t feel they fit the genre of this site.
There are many great HDR pictures. You host many of them, F&S! One of my favourites are Stuck in Customs. But in general, I like them best whey don’t look like CGI.
People are used to seeing images in a certain way. When they look at a HDR they almost always know something has been done to it. More than just brightening or darkening some areas. I don’t think HDR is so much a photographic technique as a artistic technique. Just semantics, but there is a difference. I certainly appreciate the work behind a good (but extreme) HDR, but more in the same way as an image turned into a water painting. It’s a nice effect, but obviously not something the camera can produce on its own.
I will most likely change this opinion when I start to play more with HDR myself.
Lengter tilbake selv, Geir. Som nevnt i kommentaren over (over din, ikke min.
Bare litt burn & dodge.
Link i kommentaren over er oppdatert.
This comment, like all comments on this site, should be in english, but I made an exception this time. Sorry about that.
This is a great shot, really neat. Well done
I agree with Ivar.. a stunning shot!!
Impressive. I love it
I love the colors!! How would it look with stronger color?
