Taken when I was showing my daughter some of the life in the forest. Of course, she thought the squirrels was more fun to see. And I got some fun images of those too, but with a 105mm it is hard to get close enough for the really good shot. This image was my favourite of the evening, even if it somewhat exceeds the limitations of ISO on my slightly old camera.

Beautiful picture, I really like how you got the wingspan of the flying bird. But I see what you mean by the ISO-thing. A bit more contrast, and the pic would have been perfect =)
Thank you, Line. The limitation on ISO (this was taken at ISO 800) is one of my main reasons for wanting to upgrade. If I can only decide on full frame or not… I tried some more contrast, but this only made the noise even more striking.
I must admit, that it really makes me happy in the winter time, to see the bird enjoing all the food I serve them. They are som cute and beautifull, and sing som wonderful. So your choise of image to this topic makes me happy. I like your image a lot
I found this spot while taking a walk with my daughter at my in-laws cabin. Close to twenty degrees I’m sure these birds don’t depend on this food, but they certainly seemed to enjoy it. A few squirrels came by as well, but I didn’t succeed in getting a good image with them. I suspect my daughter laughing and pointing could be one of the reasons for this.
It was either this or a picture of my son eating a hot dog.
I like that picture. It reminds me of the program Naturmagasinet with Sverre M Fjeldstad in the very early days. Out in nature, in black and white. In a way, the slightly foggy and misty background emphasizes the wing span.
Glad you liked it, Vibeke. I was thinking about adding film grain to conceal the digital noise, but decided not too. While film grain has its appeal, digital noise is just plain ugly. But it is still better than having no image at all. Or a very blurry one.
The picture was slightly underexposed to get the shutter I needed. I could have “corrected” this in post edit, but I kind of like the mood and the silhouettes.
Refreshing and unexpected image, Yngve. I had to think a little to find out what it had to do with food, but then again I’m not that into bird food;). I really like the composition, could wish for some more sharpness, and suggest cropping a little to the left and to the right – and if you are really into editing, remove some of the sky from the bottom up if you want to keep the wide format. But first and foremost: Refreshing.
To be honest I wa walking around with a different word in my head all weekend, so I wasn’t too sure how fitting it was. But it was to late to bake a cake, so I went with this.
The image is already cropped pretty hard, so I decided to not crop it any more. With that much noise, cropping isn’t ideal. Which is why I’m constantly looking into tele lenses nowadays… But I agree with you, I would like this to be closer with less distracting elemtns. That coconut is driving me nuts!
The first thing that struck me was “what the heck is this?”.
But you to whom I cost me when I got to see it big! I love surprises and this was a positive joyful one. Birdfood, what food makes a bird more happy? And us look at how happy the little sweet is the finding food! Nice work, i like it a lot: O) Creative mind, thats for sure: O)

Nice work, i like it a lot;O) Creative mind, thats for sure;O)
Glad you liked it, Line.
